WELLINGTON, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters departed on Thursday to attend the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Nagoya, Japan.

Amid strong global headwinds, the attendance at the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting is a valuable opportunity for New Zealand, Peters said in a statement.

The G20 is responsible for looking at the challenges the global economy is facing, and G20 members account for 85 percent of global GDP, he said.

"We will have the opportunity to provide New Zealand's perspective on world issues like climate change in the Pacific, and the pressing need for the global community to support and strengthen the World Trade Organization, which is important to ensure New Zealand exporters can fairly and reliably access overseas markets," said Peters who will be travelling on Nov. 21-24.
