The Palace Museum and the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences will carry out scientific research on medical cultural relics in the museum to further unveil their cultural and scientific values.

BEIJING, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Palace Museum has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS) on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) research.

The museum and the CACMS will carry out scientific research on medical cultural relics in the museum to further unveil their cultural and scientific values, according to the agreement.

The museum boasts over 3,000 medical cultural relics ranging from drugs and medical tools to archives and prescriptions. Medical cultural relics from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) court are valuable materials for studying the history of Chinese medicines.

Both sides will make full use of their respective advantages to further explore the directions and methods of the museum's research on and utilization of TCM culture, said Wang Xudong, curator of the museum.
