China will encourage the application of new technologies including big-data to prop up the development of customized consumption and other new business models.

BEIJING, July 31 (Xinhua) -- China will roll out more measures to further promote the growth of domestic consumption and the tourism sector to better meet people's needs, according to a State Council executive meeting Wednesday chaired by Premier Li Keqiang.

China will encourage the application of new technologies including big-data to prop up the development of customized consumption and other new business models, said a statement released after the meeting.

Localities will be encouraged to include community-based medicare, old-age care and housekeeping infrastructure into the renovation of old neighborhoods and provide financial and tax support for such programs.

Development of the e-commerce sector in rural areas should be further promoted, said the statement, calling for the improvement of cold chain logistics of agricultural produce.

To further boost cultural consumption and the tourism sector, the meeting called on local authorities to cut or exempt ticket prices of scenic areas, with nighttime catering, shopping and performances encouraged.

Meanwhile, market oversight will be enhanced with market entities and personnel violating the law facing tough punishment in a bid to protect the rights and interest of consumers.
