MINSK, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese-born Ni Xialian became the 55-year-old table tennis medal winner at the European Games here on Thursday.

Ni, representing Luxembourg, won 4-2 against another Chinese-born Yang Xiaoxin, representing Monaco in the women's singles bronze medal match.

Ni, who will turn 56 on July 4, became the world champion twice in 1983, playing for China.

Table tennis has seen many Chinese-born players represent other countries in the European Games, including winner Fu Yu of Portugal and runner-up Han Ying of Germany.

The 2nd European Games is underway in Minsk from June 21 to 30, featuring more than 4,000 athletes from 50 countries.
