CARACAS, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela's Supreme Court of Justice said Tuesday that it will ask the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) to revoke the immunity of four opposition deputies for the "flagrant commission" of crimes such as treason and conspiracy.

The four deputies, members of the opposition-controlled National Assembly, include Carlos Paparoni, Miguel Pizarro, Franco Casella and Winston Flores, according to a press release issued by the court.

They were accused of "instigating the insurrection, civil rebellion, criminal conspiracy, usurpation of powers and public instigation to the disobedience of the law."

It came after the ANC lifted the legal immunity for seven opposition members last week due to their support for and participation in a failed coup in late April.

Venezuela has been plunged into political unrest after opposition leader Juan Guaido proclaimed himself "interim president" in January.

Following Guaido's attempt to launch a military uprising on April 30, the Venezuelan prosecutor opened proceedings against a group of deputies from the National Assembly for their alleged role in the coup.
