BERLIN, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Bayer Leverkusen staged a relentless performance after beating in-from Eintracht Frankfurt 6-1 at the closer of the 32nd round in Bundesliga on Sunday.

The "Werkself" needed only 36 minutes to establish a six-goal lead and to seal the deal within the first 45 minutes against hapless "Eagles" who spill points in the race for a berth in the UEFA Champions League.

Leverkusen caught a perfect start in front of the home crowd as Kai Havertz made the most out of Charles Aranguiz' build-up work to slot home the opener with a well-placed shot into the bottom right with just two minutes played.

Frankfurt were unable to respond and had to swallow the 2-0 deficit in the 13th minute when Aranguiz assisted Julian Brandt, who tapped home from central position.

The second goal was a wakening call for the visitors as Filip Kostic reduced the arrears after scoring with a deflected hammer from 25 meters with 14 minutes into the game.

However, Leverkusen destroyed all hopes by Frankfurt of a comeback in the 23rd minute after Lucas Alario headed home Lars Bender's cross into the box to restore the two-goal lead.

The hosts piled on the pressure and extended their lead at the half hour mark when Aranguiz got his name on the scoreboards as well after poking home from five meters.

Frankfurt failed to keep Leverkusen on the distance as Alario wrapped up his brace in the 34th minute before things went from bad to worse as Frankfurt's Martin Hinteregger cleared a cross into the wrong goal to make it 6-1.

After the restart, Leverkusen retracted with the lead behind and let Frankfurt do the work. The "Eagles" efforts remained fruitless, allowing Leverkusen to snatch their fourth straight win.

With the result, Leverkusen move to the 5th place and is now equal on points with fourth placed Frankfurt.

Elsewhere, struggling Schalke maintain their top flight status after sharing the spoils with Augsburg following a goalless draw on home soil meanwhile Freiburg and Fortuna Dusseldorf played out a 1-1 stalemate.
