JAKARTA, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Bali airport remained serving domestic and international flights on Sunday in the aftermath of the eruption of Mount Agung volcano earlier on Sunday and no more ash particles were found around the airport vicinity.

According to the flight meteorology observation, Bali Airport Spokesperson Arie Ahsanurrohim said as of 10:30 a.m. local time ash particles were not found around the airport area. Monitoring is underway to scrutinize the possible spread of volcanic ashes in the airport.

"Representatives of related institutions would meet again to discuss possibilities (to open or close the airport) if significant situation changing occurs," he said.

The eruption occurred at 8:23 a.m. local time with belching of ash and smoke heading southwest of the crater. Mild rain of ashes was reported in eastern Bali regencies around the volcano.

Ashes were found in Bali's central and southern regencies, including Klungkung, Gianyar and in Denpasar city.

The volcano is continuing its activities at insignificant levels. The Indonesian authorities have downgraded the volcano's alert status to level III from the highest alert of level IV.

The danger zone has been set four km from the volcano summit and people are strongly advised not to take any activities within danger zone.
