NAIROBI, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Five years ago, Kenya lost to Namibia in the quest for a ticket to the U-19 cricket World Cup and coach Jimmy Kamande is hopeful to secure revenge as the two teams meet in Windhoek from March 17-25.

Namibia beat Kenya by 52 runs in the final of the African qualifiers for the U-19 World Cup back in 2014 to represent the continent at the finals played in Dubai.

Now coach Kamande expects his side to be the winner in the six-nation continental tournament.

International Cricket Council (ICC) development officer for Africa region, Patricia Kambarami, said Thursday that the level of competition in the region has gone up and it will be a tough call to predict the winner.

"Each team will play the other participants once in the single round-robin group phase format to decide the winner," said Kambarami.

Last year, Kenya staged dismal show when coach Kamande led a team that represented Africa in the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand.

"We are ready for the tournament despite our leadership problems and lack of finances that hindered our preparations. The boys are determined and will put in their best show ever," said Kamande.
