PARIS, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- MPs from France's Democratic and Republican Left groups, the far-left La France Insoumise (LFI) and the Socialists and affiliated group, dissatisfied with the government's response to the "Yellow Vests" crisis, filed a motion of no confidence on Tuesday.

According to a statement, the leftists believe that the announcements made by President Emmanuel Macron Monday are "neither fair nor responsible" and "are not likely to respond to the anger and the demands of the French".

According to them, their "duty" is "to find a political outlet to the current crisis and to show that another way exists."

The motion of no confidence is a remedy available to Parliament to show its disapproval of the government's policy in place, and to force it to resign.

To be applied, it must be voted at least 48 hours after filing -- in this case, Thursday -- by the absolute majority of parliamentarians, which should not be the case given the number of elected representatives of the left -- 62, in the 577-seat National Assembly.

Grappling with "Yellow Vests" movement, Macron on Monday sought to dampen social roar via "an economic and social emergency plan", which involves an increase in minimum wages and tax cut.
