URUMQI, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Urumqi Diwopu International Airport in northwestern China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region installed 50 "sleep pods", providing a more comfortable way for passengers to snooze.

The sleep pod, 2 meters long, 1.1 meters wide and 1.5 meters tall, allows users to lie flat on a cozy sofa with dimmable lamps, a micro USB and a de-noising stereo.

Half an hour costs 25 yuan (about 3.6 U.S. dollars) and users can sleep for at most two hours in the sleep pod. Users simply need to scan a QR code with their phone to pay the fee.

The sleep pod creates a more private rest space for transit passengers and those taking early morning flights, said the airport.

Sleep pods were launched in China in 2009 and the idea is becoming popular among airports in many Chinese cities and regions.
