RIGA, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- A military parade was held here on Sunday to mark the anniversary of a decisive battle that was fought for Latvia's freedom on November 11, 1919 and remember all soldiers fallen for the Baltic country's independence.

Marching in the parade in Freedom Square in downtown Riga were units of the Latvian armed forces and law enforcement services, including border guards, police and the fire and rescue service.

The Latvian military was represented by units of the National Defense Academy, Staff Battalion, Naval Forces and National Guard who marched to the music played by the military band of the National Armed Forces.

Brigadier General Ainars Ozolins, commander of Latvian National Guard, commanded the parade of some 350 troops. Latvian parliament speaker Inara Murniece reviewed the parade on behalf of President Raimonds Vejonis who is in Paris, France, for the events marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the World War I.
