Chinese cars gain growing popularity at Qatar motor show

DOHA, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese cars have attracted wide attention at the ongoing Qatar international motor show, which kicked off on Wednesday.

The eighth edition of Qatar Motor Show 2018 (QMS), which will continue until Sunday at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, is held under the theme "Driving to Innovation" and showcases 165 models of top international car brands.

Ali Najm al-deen, the operation director of "Taleb motors,'' the authorized general distributor of four Chinese car brands in Qatar, said that Chinese cars continue their distinguished and prominent presence at Qatar motor show.

''During the past few years, Chinese vehicles received unexpected high demand in the Qatari market. Besides, they are currently competing with German, Japanese and Korean cars,'' Najm Al-deen added.

Najm Al-deen said Chinese cars are equipped with the latest electronic systems for control and driving, fuel engines of different capacities, advanced security programs, screens connected with day and night vision cameras and multimedia technology.

He said that Chinese cars are well known for their high quality, affordable prices and good after-sales services.

Talking about the future of Chinese-made cars in Qatar, Najm Al-deen said he is optimistic as Qatar will host the World Cup 2022 which will facilitate the entry of new models to the market.

Many visitors to the motor show also expressed their admirations for Chinese cars.

"There is a rising creative trend in the automobile field in China," Mahmoud Nabil, a visitor told Xinhua.

Nabil added that China's auto industry is developing rapidly, and China will compete with world's largest companies in the coming years.

Another visitor Khalid Al-Yafi'i told Xinhua that Chinese cars have competitive prices, good quality and techniques that can be compared with German, American, Korean and Japanese cars.

Saleh Al-Hamad, one of the show visitors, said that Chinese cars also have luxury options, in addition to their competitive prices and attractive promotional offers.

Qatar motor show hosts 23 companies and features 37 booths representing various car manufacturing brands, car accessory brands and partners.

A total of 14 new models were unveiled on the first day of the show including Chinese ones.
