NEW YORK, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The government of Beijing, China's capital city, held a concert in New York City Hall Tuesday evening to celebrate the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival with performances by Chinese artists.

Lang Lang, a well-known Chinese pianist, shared his experiences of living both in New York and Beijing.

As a Beijing Tourism Ambassador and the first-ever New York City Cultural and Tourism Ambassador, Lang invited the audience to visit and enjoy Beijing.

This year marks the 38th anniversary of the establishment of sister-city relations between New York and Beijing. Statistics showed that over 670,000 U.S. tourists visited Beijing in 2017.

Yijia Yin, a pianist and lecturer from China's Central Conservatory of Music, performed "Clair de Lune" by Claude Debussy, which resembles the tradition of observing the full moon with family members on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrated in China and other East Asian countries.

Michelle Ling Yang performed the Peking Opera "Beijing as hometown" and Ming Liang Lu demonstrated the folk art of paper portrait-cutting.

Lastly, Ruobin Zhang and Zixin Ye presented "Tonight is Unforgettable," a famous Chinese song first sung by well-known singer Li Guyi.

"We are pleased to share with all of you amazing performances, beautiful photos, delicious food as well as how local people have celebrated this holiday in Beijing from ancient times to today," said Li Baochun, director of the Development Center of Beijing's World Tourism City Office.

Over 300 people from the tourism, business and education sectors participated in the event.
