VENICE, Italy, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's Tibetan writer-director Pema Tseden won the Best Screenplay award for his movie Jinpa in the Orizzonti section of the 75th Venice Film Festival on Saturday.

The Orizzonti (Horizons) section showcases the latest esthetic and expressive trends in international cinema.

Starring Jinpa, Genden Phuntsok, and Sonam Wangmo, the revenge drama tells the story of a truck driver who picks up a hitchhiker bent on murdering someone who wronged him in the past.

Pema Tseden is also an award-winning novelist whose work has been translated into English, French, German, Japanese and Czech.

His previous films include The Silent Holy Stones, The Search, and Old Dog. He has won numerous awards at film festivals in China and around the world.

His movie Tharlo won Best Film at Venice Horizons in 2015.
