YAOUNDE, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Cameroon is going to establish a vocational training center in the Far North region of the country to rehabilitate ex-fighters from the terror group Boko Haram, the country's Territorial Administration Minister, Paul Atanga Nji announced Sunday.

He made the announcement at the base of the multinational task force in Mora in the Far North region of Cameroon while meeting with some 100 ex-Boko Haram fighters.

The training center will provide them with better means of livelihood, he said.

President Paul Biya has provided facilities that the younger ones can go to a training center where they can learn something. Some are interested in farming, carpentry and mechanics. So everyone can learn the stills and and becomes responsible, Atanga Nji said.

According to the minister, the good treatment accorded the former fighters was testament of the humanitarian role the Cameroonian military plays in the management of war victims and enemies.

"It is clear today that the forces of defense and security in Cameroon are very professional and even when they have the opportunity to use weapons, they don't use them because President Paul Biya has given instructions that protection of human lives is more important than repression." Atanga Nji said.
