JAKARTA, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese fencer Huang Mengkai snatched the second fencing gold for China by winning the men's individual foil at the 2018 Asian Games here on Tuesday.

Huang defeated Choi Nicholas Edward of Hong Kong, China 11-10 in the final, winning his first Asian Games champion.

The bronze medal went to Son Yong-Ki of South Korea and Cheung Ka Long of Hong Kong, China as there are no third-place bouts.

Qian Jiarui claimed China's first fencing gold by beating her teammate Shao Yaqi in the women's individual sabre final last Sunday.

Fencing is a competition of speed and skill using the sword to hit a target in the body of the opponent and made its debut at Asian Games in Tehran in 1974.

The 18th Asiad will stage 465 events out of 40 sports, among which 330 events from 32 sports will feature in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 2018 Asian Games, attracting more than 10,000 athletes, will run through Sept. 2.
