Argentina supports Tunisia's presence at G20 summit

TUNIS, April 3 (Xinhua) -- As the rotating president of the G20, Argentina will support Tunisia's presence at the G20 summit, visiting Argentine Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie has said.

The Argentine minister said Monday in meetings with Tunisian leaders that Tunisia could attend the next G20 Summit, scheduled in November in Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital.

Faurie underlined the common interest between his country and Tunisia, highlighting the need to lift the bilateral ties to the higher level in various economic and trade areas.

"The major objective, is to stimulate a partnership that will take advantage of the existing potentials between the two countries," said Faurie.

During the Argentine diplomat's visit, the two sides signed three agreements to increase cooperation in the fields of culture and academic researches.

These agreements included a deal on cultural cooperation from 2018 to 2020, a deal on cooperation in the field of cinema, and an agreement on cooperation between the Argentine Center for the World Economy and the Tunisian Institute for Strategic Studies.

Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi said that Tunisia intends to enhance its economic partnership with Latin America, mainly with the Southern Common Market, whose members include Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Venezuela.
