LOS ANGELES, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Holly Davis, who shot and killed a 19-year-old Chinese exchange student in 2016, pled guilty to second-degree murder and might face 25 years in prison, Phoenix New Times reported online Monday.

In January 2016, 19-year-old Jiang Yue, a sophomore at Arizona State University, was driving her car when she was rear-ended by Davis in the Arizona city of Tempe. Davis then got out of her Passat, walked up to the door of Jiang's car and opened fire.

The shooting killed Jiang and injured six others after Jiang's Mercedes veered out of control into the intersection and struck an oncoming car.

Prosecutors initially sought to charge 38-year-old Davis on 14 criminal counts, including first-degree murder, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, and endangerment. She pled not guilty to those charges at an initial hearing in February 2016.

According to Phoenix New Times, Davis entered into a plea agreement in February this year, which calls for a 25-year-sentence and requires her to pay up to 250,000 U.S. dollars in restitution in exchange for pleading guilty to second-degree murder. Meanwhile, all other charges would be dismissed.

The agreement will have to be approved by a judge at the sentencing hearing, which is scheduled for April 20, the report said.

The report also said that Davis admitted to using Oxycodone and struggling with depression.
