VALLETTA, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- A private jet parked at the Malta International Airport was blown off the apron due to strong winds on Wednesday night.

Local media reported that the strong winds dislodged and blew away wheel chocks preventing the Dassault Falcon 7X from moving. The plane was then blown onto the road and into a nearby building owned by a local construction company.

No injuries were reported in the accident.

The private jet is believed to belong to Britain's Tory peer Lord Ashcroft, a former deputy chairman of the Conservative Party.

In a statement, Malta International Airport confirmed that the aircraft was blown away from its parking location.

"The airport's Operations and Security teams were deployed to the scene immediately to safeguard the integrity of the aerodrome and secure the airport perimeter," the statement said.

An investigation has been launched.
