BEIRUT, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Two people, including a Hezbollah member, were killed on Monday afternoon in two separate Israeli drone strikes in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese sources.
The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that one drone strike targeted a vehicle in the village of Deir Kifa in Tyre city, and the other targeted a motorcycle in the village of Bayt Lif in Bint Jbeil.
A Lebanese security source told Xinhua that the person killed in Deir Kifa was identified as Ali Haidar, a member of Hezbollah's military wing, and the one killed in Bayt Lif was identified as Hadi Ramah Mustafa.
Meanwhile, the NNA reported that an Israeli drone dropped an incendiary bomb into a wooded area in the village of Shihin in Tyre, sparking fires among trees and olive groves. Firefighting units and civil defense teams, with support from the Lebanese Army, were dispatched to extinguish the blaze.
The NNA also reported that Israeli forces have continued expanding and fortifying their newly-established military post on Hamams Hill, located opposite the Lebanese village of Adaisseh in the south.
These incidents come despite a ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel, brokered by the United States and France, which has been in effect since Nov. 27, 2024. The deal aims to end over a year of the cross-border hostilities triggered by the war in Gaza.
Nevertheless, the Israeli military continues to carry out occasional strikes in Lebanon, which it claims are intended to eliminate "Hezbollah threats." ■
