BEIJING, July 7 (Xinhua) -- A five-episode animated short video series themed around China's 5,000-year-old Liangzhu civilization was released globally on Monday.

Titled "The Quintet of Liangzhu Civilization," the animated series consists of five episodes: "Pottery," "Jade," "Stone," "Agriculture," and "Fire," each focusing on a key element of the Liangzhu culture. Drawing from extensive research, the series vividly portrays life during the Liangzhu period through character-driven stories.

The animation features five different artistic styles: watercolor, colored pencil, printmaking, ink painting, and paper-cutting. According to its creators, the animation was hand-drawn, with intricate details such as characters' headgear and housing reflecting the unique charm of the culture.

The series was jointly presented by the China Center for International Communication Development and the management committee of Hangzhou Liangzhu archaeological site management district, and was produced by the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

Located in east China's Zhejiang Province, the Liangzhu ruins gained UNESCO World Heritage status in 2019 as a testimony to the existence of Chinese civilization at least 5,000 years ago.
