RIO DE JANEIRO, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Botafogo is in talks with Davide Ancelotti, son of Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti, over its vacant manager's job, according to local media reports.
Davide Ancelotti is currently an assistant coach with the Brazil national team, having also worked alongside his father at Napoli, Everton, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
According to Globo Esporte, Botafogo's representatives have been in contact with the 35-year-old and the Brazilian Football Confederation in a bid to reach an agreement.
Any deal would reportedly allow Davide Ancelotti to continue his role with Brazil.
Botafogo, which won last year's Brazilian Serie A and Copa Libertadores titles, has been searching for a manager since parting ways with Renato Paiva following its elimination from the FIFA Club World Cup in late June.
The Rio de Janeiro side is currently eighth in Brazil's 20-team top flight and will meet Ecuador's LDU Quito in the Copa Libertadores round of 16 in August. ■
