SARAJEVO, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) detained three persons here on Tuesday suspected of drug trafficking and seized great amount of narcotic drugs, according to an official press statement of SIPA.

After searches on three locations in East Sarajevo and Pale, some 15 km east from BiH's capital, and in Prnjavor, some 200 km northwest of the capital, police arrested two BiH citizens and one citizen of Serbia.

The three persons are suspected of organizing a criminal group for smuggling of narcotic drugs from Albania to BiH, which was later distributed and illegally sold on the territory of BiH, Austria and Croatia in the period from June 2016 until May 2018, SIPA official website said.

Evidence collected indicates that the three suspects engaged in storage, transport and the sale of narcotic drugs, which they sold in amount of 4-6 kg to undercover SIPA investigators twice, local media said.

BiH, along with other Balkan countries, lies on the route of international drug trafficking linking Western Europe and Asia.
